We CANNOT use MiniLab both as a universal control for VSTs & DAW controller simultaneously as a Transport control (Play, Stop, Record, Loop, Metronome) FIRST OPTION By default in Ableton Live 9.7, MiniLab are available as Control Surface on the drop down list.

Good day, I will be receiving my Arturia Minilab Mk2 during the course of the week. My reason purchasing it is the endless rotary knobs for controlling plugins as I am in the audio mastering side. I recently purchased the Korg nanoKontrol2 controller which initially could not use the fader, but am. Arturia Minilab MkII Bitwig Script. Knobs: The left side bank of 8 knobs control the remote controls of currently selected device; Click the knob number 1 to reset all macros to the default value; Additionally the modulation touch strip controls one of the controls of that device (selectable in controller settings). At a low price, is tempting. Same sounds ship with the cheaper $99 MiniLab controller. Quite tempted myself, along with the Korg Taktile-Triton, another controller bundled with tons of sounds, but untested in linux as of yet. (you get a PIN for the excellent.
However, the encoders only work in Reason in 'absolute' mode - in any of the other 'relative' modes, Reason responds wrongly - so I raised tickets with Arturia and RS.Arturia replied with some regurgitated parts of the manual, explaining back to me what I had already told them - I don't think they read too well...

TL;DR - Do not buy an Arturia Minilab Mk2 if you want endless encoders.
PS - I did an extensive search around the net to find what other people have done in this situation and came up pretty much empty-handed - I tried to cobble together a codec using similar parts of other codecs (as others have been forced to) but no luck, so I returned it
