Hp Laserjet 6mp Driver
The HP LaserJet Cleaning Utility is primarily intended for the HP LaserJet 6P, 6MP, 6L, 5P, 5MP and 5L printers, but works on all HP LaserJet 5 and 6 family monochrome printers, regardless of driver type. It works with Windows 3.x, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 3.5x and 4.0, as well as MS-DOS. This package supports the following driver models: HP LaserJet 6P/6MP - PostScript; Full Specifications. What's new in version 2000-02-08. Release August 26, 2008. Date Added February 8.
Hp Laserjet 6mp Driver Windows 7
I have a separate machine that has a LaserJet 6MP connected via it's parallel port. My particular printer does not have a USB interface.
In any event, that separate machine is on the local network and runs XP PRO. The printer is shared.
This setup has worked very well. On my Vista x64 installation I was able to add it as a networked printer and use it as such.
On Windows 7, it no longer does. When I try to install the printer, I get a message stating I should provide the *.inf file for this printer, as it's not part of the W7 driver base.
So I've googled around and gone to the HP web site. Apparently up until Vista, this printer was supported out of the box.
HP does not offer a driver download for XP or Vista, it just tells me to use the Windows provided driver. And they seem to provide no Windows 7 information, and I understand that (not available in stores yet).
So I looked on the XP machine that has this printer installed. The *.inf files in c:windows do not advertise themselves as anything 'hp' or 'lj' (laserjet) or.. anything.
Anybody know a solution to this? I really want to keep this printer, it's a great workhorse.

UPDATE:
DOH! Just found the right google string pointing me to a solution.
The 'Microsoft Update Catalog' actually offers a download for a Windows 7 compatible HP Laserjet 6MP driver:
http://catalog.update.microsof...loadInformation.aspx
I never knew of that site. Printer working, issue solved. I thought it'd be nice to leave this here for others who might run into the problem.
